Woman dies after e-scooter collides with bus at Seymour and West Pender
Vancouver police are asking witnesses and anyone with video to come forward after the early-morning crash in downtown Vancouver. Two people were on the scooter; neither wore a helmet.
A woman died early Saturday after the e-scooter she was riding with a man collided with a transit bus at Seymour and West Pender streets in downtown Vancouver.
The Vancouver Police Department said the crash happened at about 5:30 a.m. The pair were travelling north on Seymour Street and entered the intersection at West Pender, where the scooter collided with a bus heading west on West Pender. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The Vancouver Sun also reported the crash.
Police said neither rider was wearing a helmet.
The VPD's Collision Investigation Unit is working to determine the circumstances of the crash, and what caused it remains under investigation. Because the collision happened in a busy downtown corridor, investigators are looking for footage from the area as well as eyewitness accounts.
Anyone who saw the collision is asked to contact the unit. That includes people who have dashcam, security-camera or cell phone video from around 5:30 a.m. The Collision Investigation Unit can be reached at 604-717-3012 or by email at vpdciu@vpd.ca.
